【摘要】:InthedeterminationofVOC,curewateristreatedasaVOCinothertestmethods,asthesemethodsareunabletoaccountforcurewater.Thistestmethodallowstakingcreditforcurewaterastotalwaterismeasured,avaluewhichincludescurewater.TotalwatercontentandvolatilecontentresultsobtainedwiththismethodmaybeusedinPracticeD3960tocalculateVOCofthecoating.1.1Thistestmethodisdesignedtomeasuretotalwaterwhichincludescurewaterresultingfromtheheatinducedcondensationreactionofcoatings.CurewatercannotbemeasureddirectlybyTestMethodD4017.Thistaskisaccomplishedbymeasuringwatercontentinthevaporsevolvedduringheating.Thistestmethodwillyieldtotalwatercontent.Thistestmethodalsopermitsforthesimultaneousdeterminationoftotalvolatilecontent.TheresultsofthistestmethodmaybeusedtocalculateVOCcontent.Althoughthistestmethodwasdesignedforphenoliccoatings,itcanbeusedwithothertypesofcoatings.1.2Materialsusedformethoddevelopmentandevaluationhadtotalwatervaluesfrom20to37%.Useofthistestmethodoncoatingsoutsidethesevalueswillneedtobevalidatedbytheuser.1.3SampleheatingisaccomplishedwithaBrinkmannInstrumentsModel832dryingoven,orothermutuallyagreeduponalternative,passingalloftheevolvedvaporsintoaKarlFischertitrationvessel.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
